Gardens - les jardins

Good morning everyone,

It's so nice to read your comments on the blog. I hope you are all doing well. Today I want to talk to you about my garden and my Dad's garden. You can decide who has the <greener thumb>. :)

This year, I only planted green beans, tomatoes, lettuce and peas in my garden. I also have rhubarb and raspberries growing in my yard. The bean stalks are not very high, and there are certainly no castles or giants in them! The pea stalks are almost as tall as me! I have been eating lots of peas and beans. The tomato plants are not doing very well - I don't think I will be making salsa this year! I completely forgot to plant pumpkin seeds this spring. I just planted some last week. I don't know if they will grow. It might be too late in the season but it doesn't hurt to try, right?

My Dad's garden is huge and growing like crazy! He is almost 88 years old and he is an amazing gardener. He has one tomato plant that is taller than him!! You can see it in the picture - he had to put a post beside it so it wouldn't fall down.

Do you have a garden at your house? What are you growing?

This is only one little section of his garden!

Giant tomato plant - maybe there is a castle and a giant in this one!

My poor little tomato plants....

I need to show my dog Tesla how to weed the garden.

Hopping Animals

Hi everyone,
There have been some cute animals hopping around my yard. I haven't seen the garden snake yet this summer but there was a big frog looking at the raspberry bush and a rabbit eating some clover. Do you think the frog would eat the raspberries? I hope not! :) I hope he eats lots of mosquitoes!
Have you seen any animals in your yard?
I like the green patch on his head - he was really well camouflaged!

The rabbit hopped away after this picture was taken and he had a cute white tail!

Pictures from the Maritimes

Hello girls and boys,
Here are a few more pictures from my trip to Prince Edward Island.
Beautiful falls in Riviere du Loup in the province of Quebec.

red dirt road in Prince Edward Island

beach in Prince Edward Island

lupine flowers - these grow everywhere in Prince Edward Island, along the roads

statue of Anne of Green Gables

beach - the island is made of red sandstone. That's why the sand is red and the soil is red. They grow lots of potatoes there but I didn't get a picture of a potato field.

funny goats!

I hope you are all having a great summer! Stay safe!

Taking a Ferry

Hi boys and girls,
I hope you are having a wonderful summer! I went on a trip to Prince Edward Island last week and I crossed the long Confederation Bridge and to come back, I went on the ferry. I have some pictures to show you:

First, Confederation Bridge links New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island.  The bridge is 12.9 km long! It took 4 years to build the bridge. It takes 10 minutes to cross the bridge at a speed of 80 km/hour. When you're on the bridge, you can't see over the side as there are walls on the side of the bridge. Here is a picture from the internet :

When you're on the bridge you see:
Not much! you see blue sky and a cement wall on the side.

On the way back we took the ferry from Prince Edward Island to Nova Scotia. We drove our car onto this big ship, parked the car and then went upstairs to look at the beautiful view!
 We drive on the ship.

 We park the car.

We go upstairs and enjoy the view. We even saw a seal in the water! We are on the ferry for 75 minutes. We thought we would be cold on the ferry, but it was actually quite warm! There is also a restaurant inside. In this picture, I'm with my niece Genevieve and her dog Bronte. It was his first time on a ship!

Then, there is an announcement to go back to our cars and we drive off the ship.

Here, you can see all of the cars waiting to get on the ferry to go to Prince Edward Island. You have to line up one hour ahead of time. There are over 200 cars on the ferry!

I hope you enjoyed this little part of my trip. I will post more pictures from my trip later on this week. Stay safe and have a wonderful summer!
